A skiing hotel in Austria – it doesn’t get better than this!
Stay in Grossarl on your ski holiday in Austria.
The Ziach & Candy is located in Unterberg, around 50 metres from the town’s two gondola valley stations – ideal if you’ve come here to ski! After a day on the slopes, you can ski back almost to the hotel entrance, head through the underground garage to the ski room, and you’re done. In the morning, there’s no need to load your equipment into the car: enjoy breakfast at your own pace, then walk straight to the lift. And you can return just as easily, while your car stays parked safely underground. That’s exactly what makes a skiing holiday in Austria amazing: short distances, long days on the mountain.

The Grossarltal valley offers 60 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails, from gentle loops for beginners to more demanding routes for experienced skiers. Out here, it’s all about rhythm, glide, and clear mountain air. Whether you prefer classic technique or skating, the trail network is beautifully prepared for both.

The beautifully maintained and floodlit Maurachalm toboggan run stretches for three kilometres downhill. Walk up to the hut, stop for a bite to eat, grab a toboggan, and enjoy the ride back down. Our tip: Have you ever tried night tobogganing? Toboggans can be hired at the bottom of the run or from one of the local sports shops.

The Grossarltal valley is a true favourite among ski tourers. You climb in peaceful surroundings, skins on your skis, rucksack on your back. The options range from gentle tours to more demanding high-Alpine outings and include routes such as Kreuzegg and Tofer Scharte. One important note: avalanche safety equipment is essential. You can hire it locally at a sports shop or bring your own. Check in, ski-in, and ski-out in Austria. It’s that easy!
